Menard Oceania Hits 700,000 LM Of CMC’s Installed

Menard - Vibro Compaction

2015/2016 was the year of Controlled Modulus Columns (CMC rigid inclusions) for us at Menard Oceania, with no less than 4 projects at once and 6 machines in production!

Amongst the most significant projects using the CMC technique were:

Webb Dock in Melbourne with 85,000 lm of CMC, Nambucca Heads to Urunga and Gerringong as part of the Pacific Highway Upgrade (56,000 lm & 22,000 lm), the Port of Brisbane Motorway (56,000 lm) and Ichthys Cryogenic Tanks (12,300 lm). Most notably, Menard Oceania also installed 230,000 lm of CMC’s for the New Perth Stadium.

Installing CMC’S: How does it work?

CMC’s are installed as rigid inclusions in the soil for the purpose of enhancing the global modulus of otherwise incompetent soil.

This method has proved to be a very cost-effective solution to handle our client’s ground engineering challenges and produces very little spoil during construction.

It is a great solution for foundations on soft soils for a wide range of applications including roads, ports, civil works/infrastructures, tanks or warehouses.
