Menard Oceania Steps Up For Safety, During And After Safety Week

From 26 to 30 Sept 2016, our Managing Director, Philippe Vincent and our QSE Manager, Olaf Duwer, have been touring across our sites and offices to bring our teams together for the Vinci International Safety Week.

Over 68,000 employees of the group participated in activities for that special week at every location designed to help them STEP UP for Safety!

2016’s theme focuses on the major risks on our job sites, with three main topics:

  • Working near active roadways
  • Working at heights
  • Prevention of hand injuries

Menard Oceania particularly insisted on hand safety, vital to reducing 100k hand injuries in our industry worldwide annually.

This week was a great opportunity to meet and discuss with the teams about their daily tasks and struggles, encourage them and think about how we can eliminate risks from our activities, aiming for zero accidents.

“At the end of Q3 2016 our total recordable injury frequency rate per one million hours worked (TRIFR) is at 13.4 – our immediate target is to achieve under 10. Our primary objective is to achieve a zero harm work environment, no injuries. We all have a responsibility to each other to ensure that everyone makes it home safely every day. With everyone actively involved, we have a realistic opportunity of achieving this” said Olaf Duwer, our QSE Manager.

Hats off to our Project Managers, QSE Manager & field personnel who are real rock stars and step up to make safety a priority every day.
