Ichthys Cryogenic Tanks

The $34 billion Ichthys LNG Project consisted in constructing a network of four massive cryogenic tanks at Blaydin Point, Darwin. Menard Oceania were awarded the ground improvement works for one of the tanks which was to be located in an area that consisted of soft sandy clays below a layer of 75mm engineered rock fill. The technique used was CMC as it produces very little spoil during construction. It was ideal for this project due to the presence of acid sulphate in the soil. 664 CMC’s were constructed.
