100 Jet Grout Projects-Day 1

For over 50 years, Menard has modified the in-situ soil structure with a high-pressure grout, allowing creativity in resolving complex foundation challenges. This week, Menard celebrates our long history of Jet Grout projects, which have made us the industry leader for this application.

On this occasion, we’re launching #jetgroutingweek by revisiting some milestone projects and the markets where we’ve been able to apply that technique.

Let’s start with rail and Menard’s contribution to the Melbourne Metro in 2019-2020.
Menard has been involved in many major rail & metro projects in Australia, and the Melbourne Metro project is a great example of one.

We contributed to the Melbourne Tunnel project, which is expected to open in 2025 with five new stations under Melbourne’s CBD. Menard worked on 6 cross passages between the tunnels. The cross passages were located within soft or mixed ground conditions, which required ground treatment to control groundwater ingress and/or provide suitable ground control to allow the stability of mined excavation between the tunnel tubes. The proposed ground treatment principally consisted of overlapping jet-grouting columns forming a homogenous treated block installed from the ground surface to a depth of 30m.
